ADVERTISEMENT INVITING APPLICATIONS FOR THE POST OF ELECTRICITY OMBUDSMAN


1. Applications are invited from interested persons for the post of Electricity Ombudsman who have experience and exposure in a specific field like Legal Affairs, Engineering, Industry, Administrative Service, Management, Defence Services or Consumer Affairs. The specified format for application is as per Annexure-I. The Minimum experience is as follows:-

(i) Legal Affairs: The applicant should have experience as a Presiding Officer at the level of District Judge for at least two years.

(ii) Industry/Engineering: The applicant should have experience of working for an Electricity Utility at the level of Member of Board of Directors for atleast two years.

(iii) Administrative/Management/Defense Services: The applicant should have experience of working at the level of Principal Secretary to State Government or Additional Secretary to Central Government or Major General or equivalent in an organized security force for atleast two years.

(iv) Consumer Affairs: The applicant should have experience as a Presiding Officer in the Consumer Forum for atleast two years.

(Note: In special cases the combined experience of six years on a post one step below the above mentioned post will also be considered.)

2. The main functions of Electricity Ombudsman appointed under section 42(6) shall be to receive and consider all representations filed by complainant and non-redressal of the grievances by the Grievances
Redressal Forum formed by the three Distribution Companies under section 42(5) of the Electricity Act, 2003.

3. The age of the aspirant person should not be above 62 years on 1st July, 2010. He/She should not have
been associated with the activities of any of the Licensees in M.P. for a period of preceding one year.

4. The Commission shall designate Electricity Ombudsman for a period of two years and the Electricity Ombudsman shall be paid Rs. 30,000/- per month. The other terms and conditions of appointment shall
be as follows:-

(i) The office of the Electricity Ombudsman shall be situated in the Commission’s office at Bhopal and
he shall also be required to conduct hearings in Indore, Jabalpur , Gwalior, Rewa, Ujjain, and
Sagar.
(ii) During tour, TA/DA as admissible to the Class- I officer of the Government of M.P. shall
be paid.
(iii) For conveyance during local duty a lump sum amount equivalent to 60 litres of Petrol per
month shall be paid for use of own vehicle towards cost of petrol, Oil & Lubricants.
(iv) A hired vehicle shall be made available by the Commission for traveling on official duty
outside Bhopal.

Secretary, Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission, 5th Floor, “Metro Plaza”, E-5, Arera Colony,
Bhopal – 462 016. Application format can be obtained in person from Commission Office or can be
downloaded from the Commission’s website “www.mperc.org” or can be obtained from the MPERC office by
sending a self-addressed stamped envelope.

Last Date: The last date for receipt of application in the Commission office is 15.07.2010.
