IGNOU – SVPITM Collaboration
SVPITM - IGNOU collaboration is set up as an initiative towards education to enrich the human resource base in the country, with its expertise in the field of textile management.
Purpose of this Collaboration
• To encourage and impart knowledge in the field of Textile Management and General Management
• To offer academic programmes at different levels for the development of human resources in Textile Management
• To develop and evolve as a centre of Excellence in this part of the world for various career oriented learning streams
• To promote professional and industry oriented education through the industry-institution collaboration model
To pursue this goal, SVPITM has entered into an agreement with IGNOU, the largest Open University with a truly global reach. This would ensure that the certificates, diploma and degree programmes offered by SVPITM under the patronage of IGNOU would be recognized all over the world.

Academic Programmes
SVPITM in association with IGNOU has designed programmes in the area of Textile Management. The following courses are planned to be offered under the collaboration in a phased manner:
• MBA (Textile Management)
• PGDM (Textiles and Apparel)
• M.Phil & Ph.D Programmes in Management with specialization in Textile and Apparel management
• Short term Skill Development Courses
MBA Textile Management
Uniqueness of the program
• It is a collaboration effort of India’s unique SVPITM and World renowned university IGNOU
• MBA degree is awarded by IGNOU and Certificate of Field Training is awarded by SVPITM
• It is a blend of academic concepts with proven contemporary practices
• Content is written by experts drawn from premier institutes and senior professionals from the industry
• Innovative teaching methodology with ‘story telling mode’ and tools like ‘learning by asking’
• Full time on campus programme at the State or Art Campus at Coimbatore
• Practical learning through internship guided by experienced mentors in the company
• Assured placement for all successful students in textile industry in location across the country
Eligibility Criteria & Admission Procedure
Graduate (10+2+3) and above with a minimum 50% from a UGC recognized University. Those who have appeared for the final year examination of graduation can also apply.
The students are required to submit the duly filled in application form at the SVPITM Centre in Coimbatore with the following documents attached:
• Proof of qualification (Provisional certificate copy in case the degree certificate is not available)
• Proof of Date of Birth
• CAT / CET / MAT / ATMA / XAT / OPENMAT Score Card (students who have appeared for any of those entrances in the last year only are considered)
Candidates meeting the eligibility criteria will have to appear for an entrance exam. Candidates who have already appeared for entrance exam CAT / CET / MAT / ATMA / XAT / OPENMAT held in the last year need not appear the entrance exam conducted by IGNOU and SVPITM. However, they have to attach the copy of the score sheet along with the application form. There is no specific cut off score required in CAT / CET / MAT / ATMA / XAT to apply. This category of applicants is required to appear for Group discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI).
Candidates shortlisted from the written test will be called for a Group discussion and Personal Interview.
• Candidates qualifying the Group Discussion and Personal Interview will be sent an ‘Admission Letter’ from the office of SVPITM. The selected candidates at the time of admission will have to submit the following documents:
• Attested photo copy of Graduation Certificate and Mark Sheet
• Demand Draft drawn in favour of SVPITM payable at Coimbatore
• Original certificates for verification. The originals will be returned after verification.
• Two Passport size photographs for the purpose of ID Card
• Candidates have to be physically present for admission at SVPITM Campus.
Fee structure
The students have the choice of paying the entire course fee initially or can pay semester wise as given below.
• 1st Semester: Rs.50000/-
• 2nd Semester: Rs.50000/-
• 3rd and 4th Semester: Rs.100000/- (3rd and 4th semester fees to be paid together)
The payments has to be made by Demand Draft in favour of SVPITM payable at Coimbatore and is required to be submitted at the campus allotted to the student. Support in getting bank study loan will be offered on request.
Fee once paid will not be refunded.
