Doon University Admission Test 2011 MBA MSc MA Prospectus Date Form

ADMISSION ANNOUNCEMENT-2011

Doon University was established by the Government of Uttarakhand in 2005 vide its Act No. 18 of 2005 and recognized by UGC under 12(B) is a State Government University. It is a fully residential University. The vision of the University is to become a Centre of Excellence in chosen areas of Studies. The medium of instruction in the University is English. The University announces Admission to the following Courses for the academic year 2011-12. The important dates are as under:

IMPORTANT DATES:
Issue of application forms starts on : 25th March 2011
Last date for receiving completed
application forms without late fee : 14th May 2011
with late fee : 21st May 2011

Last Date for MBA Applicants : 25th April 2011

Date of admission test (other than MBA) : 19th June 2011
Date of starting new session : 25th July 2011

The dates may be changed at the discretion of the university authorities.
The applications are invited from the eligible students for admission in following courses being offered
by various schools of the Doon University.

I. COURSES OFFERED
SCHOOL OF ENVIRONMENT AND NATURAL RESOURCES

a) M.Sc. Environmental Science (with specialization in Natural Resource Management) (20 Seats):

Eligibility: Graduation in basic/applied sciences from a recognized University with at least 50 percent 
marks (45 percent for SC/ST and other categories as per State Government rules).

b) M.Sc. Environmental Science (with specialization in Environmental Studies) (20 Seats):
Eligibility: Graduation in basic/applied sciences from a recognized University with at least 50 percent marks (45 percent for SC/ST and other categories as per State Government rules).

SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATION
a) M.A Communication (40 Seats): Eligibility: Graduation in any subject from a recognized University with at least 50 percent marks (45 percent for SC/ST and other categories as per State Government rules).

b) Integrated Five year M.A Communication (60 Seats): Eligibility: 10+2 in any subject from a recognized Board with 50 percent marks (45 percent for SC/ST and other categories as per State Government rules).

SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT
a) Master of Business Administration (MBA) (40 Seats): Eligibility: The admission will be based on valid MAT Score followed by GD/PI conducted by the University. Applicants must be graduate in any subject with at least 50 percent marks (45 percent for SC/ST and other categories as per State Government rules) and have valid composite MAT score of 600 or above for general category (500 or above for SC/ST and other categories as per State Government rules) to apply.

SCHOOL OF SOCIAL SCIENCES
a) Integrated Five year M.Sc. (Economics) course (30 Seats) with specialization in Advanced Economics/ Environmental and Natural Resource Economics/ Business Economics with an exit option after three years with a BA (Honors) in Economics. Eligibility: 10+2 in any subject from a recognized Board with 50 percent marks (45 percent for SC/ST and other categories as per State Government rules). A strong background in quantitative techniques is desirable.

b) M.A Economics (20 Seats): Eligibility- Graduation with at least 50 percent marks in Social Sciences/Commerce (45 percent for SC/ST and other categories as per State Government rules) or 60 percent in any other discipline (55 percent for SC/ST and other categories as per State Government rules) from a recognized University. A strong background in quantitative techniques is desirable.

SCHOOL OF LANGUAGES
a) Integrated Five year M.A course (Chinese, Spanish, German languages) (20 Seats each): Eligibility: 10+2 in any subject from a recognized Board with 50 percent marks (45 percent for SC/ST and other categories as per State Government rules).

II. CENTRE OF EXAMINATION: The Admission to all the Courses in the University is strictly on the basis of an Admission Test conducted by the University, except in the case of Master of Business Administration Course. The Admission Test Centres are: (1) Dehra Dun (2) Srinagar (3) Delhi (4) Haldwani (5) Almora (6) Lucknow (7) Chandigarh (8) Shillong (9) Jorhat (10) Kolkata (11) Bhopal (12) Guwahati. The University reserves its right to change/cancel any of the above centres of Admission test at it’s discretion. The examination center mentioned in the admit cards will be final.

III. RESERVATION: Out of the total seats fifty percent seats will be reserved for the candidates from the State of Uttarakhand. Remaining seats will be filled up as per merit. The reservation for SC/ST and OBC will be provided to the applicants of Uttarakhand as per the rules of Government of Uttarakhand. SC /ST/OBC candidates from other states will be treated as General category.

IV. HOW TO APPLY: Prospectus and application form can be obtained by post by submitting a Bank 
Draft of Rs. 650/- for general categories and Rs. 350/- for SC/ST candidates of Uttarakhand, payable at Dehradun in favour of Doon University Dehradun. The forms will also be available from the University office Kedarpur campus/ Punjab National Bank, Ashley Hall branch Dehradun on payment of Rs 600 or Rs 300 (for SC/ST of Uttarakhand) on cash payment. A copy of the valid SC/ST/OBC certificate will be required at the time of issue of the form. The candidates may also contact the University on telephone no 0135-2533105/2533116 or email at admission.doon2011@gmail.com for any information. Duly filled in application form be sent to The Coordinator of Admissions, Doon University, Kedarpur, PO Ajabpur, Dehradun. For further details please refer to “Prospectus 2011”. A candidate who wants to apply for two or more courses has to fill up separate forms for each course. Prospectus 2011/ Application forms may also be downloaded from the website http://doonuniversity.ac.in/. The downloaded form must be accompanied with a bank draft of Rs. 600/- or Rs 300 (for SC/ST of Uttarakhand) in favor of Doon University, Payable at Dehradun.

About Doon University
The idea of Doon University draws its elements from huge deficit that the state of Uttarakhand has been experiencing in the area of excellence in higher education. The Doon University Bill, 2005 (Uttaranchal Adhiniyam Sankhaya 18 of 2005) was passed by the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly and assented to by the Governor on April 23, 2005. It was published in the Uttarakhand Gazette on April 26, 2005. On 9th May 2009 its statutes were approved and the University going to start its first academic session on 6th August 2009. The spirit of the Act is to create an autonomous and accountable institution of higher learning. Accordingly the University intends to impart socially and economically relevant education. It also aims to provide lead in frontier areas of research and methods of pedagogy. Indeed the mandate is huge and challenging.
