Applications are invited from highly motivated students for admission to the Ph.D. programme beginning in August 2011 at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram.
Candidates with Masters degree in Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, Physical Sciences and related fields are eligible to apply. Individual schools will have additional eligibility criteria including qualifying in national level tests like CSIR-UGC-JRF, GATE, ICMR, JEST, NBHM etc. Please see the following URL
for details on the eligibility criteria for applying to the individual schools at IISER-TVM and to download the application form. Candidates in the final year of the Masters degree in the above fields and qualify in the national level examinations are strongly encouraged to apply.
Relaxation of eligibility criteria for SC/ST candidates will be made according to the Government of India rules.
All students admitted to the Ph.D. programme receive fellowships either from national fellowships like CSIR-UGC-JRF/DBT-JRF/ICMR-JRF/NBHM or from IISERTVM.

About IISER Trivandrum
The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Thiruvananthapuram, (often abbreviated to IISER Thiruvananthapuram or IISER-TVM),is an institution of higher education established by the Government of India in 2008 based on the recommendations of the Scientific Advisory Council of India. The institute awards five-year integrated Master of Science degrees in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and inter-disciplinary areas. There are also facilities for doing research in these areas leading to the award of PhD.
IISER-TVM is currently located in the campus of the College of Engineering, Trivandrum (CET). A site of 200 acres (0.81 km2) for establishing a permanent campus has been identified at Vithura, at the foothills of the Ponmudi hills of the western ghats, about 40 km from Thiruvananthapuram. There are four other such institutes in India and they are located at Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali and Pune.
