Mode of Instruction
This programme is fully residential.
Duration
The duration of this programme will be two academic years consisting of four semesters of course work and a project. There will be a mid-semester and an end semester examination for each subject. The schedule of classes, evaluation and grading system will be as per the norms of IMU.
Location
The programme is fully residential and will be conducted at the NSDRC, presently IMU Campus at Visakhapatnam in the academic year 2011-2012.
Entry Requirements
The candidate must have successfully completed Bachelors’ degree in Mechanical / Civil / Aeronautical Engineering / Marine Engineering / Naval Architecture or equivalent. General candidates should have 60% aggregate in B.Tech. and 55% for reserved category candidates.
Seat Reservation
As per Government of India directives.
Mode of Selection
1) Application to Indian Maritime University, Visakhapatnam campus.
2) Selection on the basis written test conducted by IMU at Visakhapatnam campus.

3) Ph.D PROGRAMME
Applications are invited for admission to the Ph.D Programme of the Indian Maritime University. Candidates with M.Tech / M.E. or equivalent degree applying for Ph.D. programme should have obtained their Master’s Degree from colleges / Universities which are approved by the AICTE / UGC. Admission to reserved category candidates will be done as per Government of India notification.

Application Registration Fee
The registration fee for the programme is Rs.500/- (Rs.600/- in case of downloaded form) which is inclusive of price of Prospectus and application form is to be paid along with application form in the form of demand draft. D.D. should be drawn in the favour of Director, Indian Maritime University, Visakhapatnam.

About Indian Maritime University (IMU)
The Indian Maritime University (IMU) is located in Chennai. It was established on 14.11.2008 by the Indian Maritime University Act, 2008 (22 of 2008) It located in Utthandi in Chennai with campuses at Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai and Visakhapatnam.
The following existing seven government and government aided maritime training and research institutes has been merged with IMU.
