Tenth Postgraduate Diploma Course in Print Journalism (TPDCPJ)

Eligibility:
Applicants to the course must have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Students who have appeared in their final examination may also apply. However, they will have to furnish adequate proof of graduation for their admission to be regularised.

Selection
Candidates aspiring to join the course are expected to have a good academic record, a keen interest in current affairs and politics, a deep commitment to journalism as a career and sound writing skills. Admission will be on the basis of a candidate’s performance in a written test and an interview.
How To Apply:
Request for the prospectus and application form should be accompanied by a demand draft of Rs. 500/- in favour of MASCOM, payable at Kottayam, Kerala.
Completed applications in the prescribed form along with two Admit Cards must reach the address given below on or before April 30 2011.

ENTRANCE TEST
The entrance test will be held at the following centres: Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Kochi, Kozhikode, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore & Dubai (UAE).
The test will consist of two parts. Both sessions will be held on April 17, 2010.The forenoon session will be from 10.00 to 12.30 and will focus on language skills and journalistic aptitude. The afternoon session will be from 2.15 to 5.00 and will concentrate on general knowledge.
Candidates will be intimated of the exact venue, date and time of the written test by means of the Admit card, which candidates must bring with them to the test centres as proof of identity.
Candidates without the Admit Card may not be permitted to write the examination.
Candidates must report at the test centre at least 15 minutes before the starting time.

RESULTS
Successful candidates will be required to appear for an interview in Kottayam at their own expense. Interview will be conducted in the Seminar  room at MASCOM. Test result will be intimated to successful candidates at the conclusion of the interviews.

CHECKLIST FOR APPLICATION
Ensure the following while filling the application form:
·          Write legibly in BLOCK LETTERS in your own handwriting
·          Affix a recent passport size colour photograph

·          Indicate clearly your 1st and 2nd choices of examination centres
·          Affix signature in black or blue ink
·          Fill up both copies of the Admit Card and affix passport size photograph.
·          Superscribe “MASCOM Application” clearly on the envelope.
·          Do NOT submit original proof of age or degree certificate or mark list along with the application.
·          Originals of these documents are required to be produced only at the time of interview.

PAYMENTS
All payments to MASCOM shall be by means of Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favour of MASCOM and payable at Kottayam..

BOARDING AND LODGING
Admitted students will be accommodated in comfortable, furnished quarters arranged by MASCOM at reasonable rent and they can avail of meals provided in the MASCOM canteen at subsidised rates.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
1.      A candidate who is a full-time employee or a student in another course shall not be eligible for admission.
2.      MASCOM reserves the right to cancel a candidate’s admission if it is proved that:
3.      The candidate submitted false documents or cheated in the entrance test.
4.      The candidate has a criminal record that became known only later.
5.      MASCOM reserves the right to cancel any test centre and to assign the candidate to another centre.
6.      The decision of the MASCOM Admission committee concerning the selection of a candidate will be final and binding.
7.      MASCOM reserves the right to reject any application found incomplete or otherwise deficient.
8.      MASCOM reserves the right to make changes to one or more of the regulations listed above.
