National Sugar Institute Kanpur NSI Admission 2011 P.G.Diploma Fellowship Course

ADMISSION – NOTICE

APPLICATIONS are invited for admission to the following courses for the academic session 2011-2012 commencing from July, 2011.

A) POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA COURSE OF ASSOCIATESHIP OF NATIONAL SUGAR INSTITUTE (ANSI) IN SUGAR TECHNOLOGY: (On merit basis of written entrance examination to be held on 25th  & 26th  June 2011). 
Minimum Qualifications:  B.Sc. with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering having secured minimum 45% marks in aggregate, provided that in the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes minimum Marks will be 40%. The candidates, who have appeared in the final examination of minimum prescribed qualification for A.N.S.I. (Sugar Technology) courses, can also apply for admission. However they are required to provide the attested copy of the original mark sheet or Internet Mark Sheet duly verified by the University of the final examination result at the time of counselling (as given in the letter to be issued to provisionally selected candidates) failing which they will not be admitted and no relaxation is possible to be given on this account. 
DURATION  :  Two and half academic years.

B)  POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA COURSE OF ASSOCIATESHIP OF NATIONAL SUGAR INSTITUTE (ANSI) IN SUGAR ENGINEERING: (On merit basis of written entrance examination to be held on 26th June 2011). 
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical or Production or Electrical & Electronics   Engineering or Mechanical Technology or equivalent qualification. The candidates who have appeared in the final examination of minimum prescribed qualification for  A.N.S.I. (Sugar Engineering) courses, can also apply for admission. However they are required to provide the attested copy of the original mark sheet or Internet Mark Sheet duly verified by the University  of the final examination result at the time of counselling (as given in the letter to be issued to provisionally selected candidates) failing which they will not be admitted and no relaxation is possible to be given on this account. 
DURATION: One and a half academic years.

C) POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA COURSE IN INDUSTRIAL FERMENTATION     AND ALCOHOL TECHNOLOGY (D.I.F.A.T.): Minimum Qualification: B.Sc. with Chemistry as One of the subjects and one year experience in a Distillery/ Brewery on a technical post.
Nomination from Distillery /Brewery is essential. 
DURATION: One academic year followed by four months practical training in a
Distillery/Brewery.

D) CERTIFICATE COURSE IN SUGAR ENGINEERING (S.E.C.C.): Minimum
Qualifications  : Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical or Production or Electrical & Electronics
Engineering or Mechanical Technology of a recognized technical school/college or Polytechnic.
Nomination from a vacuum pan sugar factory is essential. 
DURATION  : Two Off-Seasons (JULY TO NOVEMBER).

E) CERTIFICATE COURSE IN SUGAR BOILING (S.B.C.C): Minimum Qualification: Matriculate with Science/Agriculture and one season’s Sugar Boiling Experience in a Vacuum
pan sugar factory. Nomination from a vacuum pan sugar factory is essential.  
DURATION  :  One Off-Season (JULY TO NOVEMBER) followed by five months practical training in a Sugar Factory.

F) PRE HARVEST CANE MATURITY SURVEY CERTIFICATE COURSE:
Minimum Qualification  : Intermediate with Science/ Agriculture or equivalent with two years experience in a sugar factory laboratory or fieldwork.  Nomination from a vacuum pan sugar factory is essential. 
DURATION  :  One and a half month (15th October to 30th November).

G) FELLOWSHIP OF NATIONAL SUGAR INSTITUTE (F.NS.I.) BY RESEARCH.
I. F.N.S.I. In Sugar Technology
II. F.N.S.I. In Sugar Chemistry
Minimum Qualification:    A.N.S.I. In Sugar Technology.
III.  F.N.S.I. In Sugar Engineering
Minimum Qualification:    A.N.S.I. In Sugar Engineering.
IV. F.N.S.I. in Fermentation Technology
Minimum Qualification:  Diploma in Industrial Fermentation and Alcohol Technology
(D.I.F.A.T.)

Application on prescribed forms, completed in all respects with attested copies of certificates should be sent  in an ENVELOPE Marked “Admission-2011” by registered A.D. so as to reach to the DIRECTOR, NATIONAL SUGAR INSTITUTE, KALIANPUR, KANPUR-208 017  (U.P.) on or before 18.05.2011.  Late receipt of application forms by the candidates should not be considered as an excuse for late submission of the application.  It is, therefore, necessary that the candidates should try to get the application forms sufficiently in advance so that the applications, duly completed are submitted well in time.  Application received in the office of the DIRECTOR, NATIONAL SUGAR INSTITUTE, KALIANPUR, KANPUR after 18 th May 2011 will not be considered under any circumstances.

Admission to A.N.S.I. (Sugar Technology) and A.N.S.I. (Sugar Engineering) courses will be made on the basis of admission tests conducted at four centers namely KANPUR, DELHI, KOLKATA AND CHENNAI.  For rest of the courses, selection will be made on the basis of interview to be held at NATIONAL SUGAR INSTITUTE, KALIANPUR, Kanpur sometime in July 2011.  For A.N.S.I. (Sugar Technology) written test shall be conducted (in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, each paper having maximum marks of 100 and 3 hours duration) of B.Sc. standard.  For A.N.S.I (Sugar Engineering) written test shall be conducted in one paper of maximum marks of 100 marks and 3 hours duration (Two sections of equal marks one of Mechanical Engineering & the other of Electrical Engineering).  Candidates have the option to write the answers in either English or Hindi but all questions should be answered in one language only.

Institute reserves the right to make any change in admission qualifications, procedure, number of seats etc. without any notice.


About The National Sugar Institute (NSI)
The National Sugar Institute (NSI) established in 1936, is involved in research, training and advisory services to the sugar and allied industry, and functions under the Department of Food and Public Distribution of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. Located in Kalyanpur, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India, it provides technical education and training in research in all branches of sugar chemistry, sugar technology, sugar engineering and allied fields. The institute provide assistance to central and state Governments in matters relating to sugar and allied industries.

Established in 1936 by taking over the sugar section of Harcourt Butler Technological Institute, Kanpur as the Imperial Institute of Sugar Technology. The IIST was placed under the administrative control of the Imperial Council of Agricultural Research but continued to be housed in the building of the HBTI.
