APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF PROFESSORS
Applications are invited on prescribed Performa from Indian citizen for the post of Professors in the following departments:
1. Cardiology,
2. Radiotherapy,
3. Nephrology,
4. Gastroenterology,
5. G. I. Surgery,
6. Neuro Medicine,
7. Neuro Surgery,
8. Orthopedic,
9. Pediatric Surgery,
10. Ophthalmology
(No of Posts: One in each department)
Reservation: All the posts are unreserved.
Pay Scale: Rs. 37400-67000 (Minimum pay Rs. 51600+GP Rs. 10.500+NPA.
Upper Age Limit: 50 years as on 31.03.2011. Relaxable in exceptional cases. Relaxation as per Bihar Govt. rule (i.e. SC/ST – 05 years. MBC/OBC for 03 years and Female for all categories for 03 years). Benefit of reservation will be given to Bihar State domicile only. Handicapped candidate will be given the benefit of reservation and relaxation as per rule of Govt. of Bihar. Persons working in Government Institution shall be given relaxation as per rule. Candidates on lien shall also be accepted.
Essential Qualification & Experience:
1- For the post of Professor (Medical)
1. A Medical Qualification included in the I or II schedule or part– II of the third schedule to the Indian Medical Council Act. 1956 (Persons possessing qualifications included in part– II or third schedule should also full fill the conditions specified in section 13 (3) of the Act.)
Essential for Broad-Speciality discipline:
2. A post graduate qualification i.e. MD/MS or a recognized qualification equivalent there to in the respective discipline/subject.
Essential for Super-speciality disciplines:
3. M.Ch. for Surgical super-specialties and D.M. for Medical Super-specialties (02 Yrs. or 03 Yrs. or 05 Yrs. recognized course) or qualification recognized equivalent thereto.
EXPERIENCE: Fourteen years teaching and/or research experience in recognized Institution in the subject of speciality after obtaining the qualifying degree of MD/MS or qualification recognized equivalent thereto.
OR
Twelve years teaching and/or research experience in recognized Institution in the subject of speciality after obtaining the qualifying degree of M.Ch./ D.M. (02 years or 05 yrs course recognized after MBBS) in the respective discipline/subject or qualification recognized equivalent thereto.
OR
Eleven years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized Institution in the subject of speciality for the candidates possessing 03 years recognized Degree of D.M./ M/Ch. in the respective discipline/subject or qualification recognized equivalent thereto.

The cost of application form is Rs. 500/- Five Hundred (Rs. 125/- One Hundred Twenty Five for SC/ST candidates) payable at Patna in the form of Demand Draft in favour of Director, IGIMS, Patna. Those who download the application form shall have to submit a demand daft of Rs.500/- or Rs.125/- , as applicable, in favour of Director, IGIMS, Payable at Patna.

Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences was established on November 19, 1983 as an autonomous organisation on the pattern of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. The estimated budget was 110 Crore rupees which was later revised to 133 Crores. It is one of the main health care institutions in the state of Bihar. The institute provides education in medicine and conducts health and medicinal research.
