Visvesvaraya Technological University is a Public state technical university in Karnataka, India. It was established on 1 April 1998 by the Government of Karnataka as per VTU Act 1994 to improve the quality of technical education and cater the growing need for technological manpower of the state.[2] VTU is named after Sir M.Visvesvaraya from Karnataka, the only engineer to be awarded a Bharat Ratna (translates to Jewel of India or Gem of India in English) award, the highest civilian award in India
