ADMISSION ANNOUNCEMENT

M. Sc. in Cellulose & Paper Technology 2011

FRI (Deemed) University announces M.Sc. in Cellulose & Paper Technology course; an industry oriented programme and upgraded version of its prestigious PG Diploma in Pulp & Paper Technology which is being run since 1959. The course will cater to the needs of Pulp & Paper industries. It will also cover the chemistry of fibrous raw material, pulping, bleaching, paper making process operations, pollution abatement etc. The 2nd year of this course is likely to be conducted at Central Pulp & Paper Research Institute (CPPRI), Saharanpur.

Issue of application forms starts on : 10th May, 2011

Last date for receiving completed application forms : 11th July, 2011

The dates may be changed at the discretion of the university authorities.

I. DURATION: Two years (01st August, 2011 to 30th July, 2013)

II. QUALIFICATION: Graduate degree with minimum 50% marks in aggregate in Science with Chemistry as one of the subjects (For SC/ST candidates 45% marks), BE/B.Tech. (Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with minimum 50% aggregate for General and 45% for SC, ST).

III. COURSE FEE: Rs.17,000/- per semester plus library fee, hostel fee, Electricity charges, Examination Fee, misc. fee etc. as applicable as per the rules of the FRI (Deemed) University.

IV. ACCOMMODATION: Hostel facility is available on payment of prescribed fee and availability of the vacancy in hostel.

V. SEATS: Numbers of seats are 20. (10 Gen, 03 SC, 02 ST & 05 OBC). Admission for this year shall be on merit basis. Extra weightage will also be given to the candidate sponsored by the industries.

The Forest Research Institute is an institute of the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education and is a premier institution in the field of forestry research in India. It is located at Dehradun in Uttarakhand. It was established in 1906 and is one of the oldest institutions of its kind. In 1991, it had been declared a deemed university by the University Grants Commission.

The Forest Research Institute is spread over 4.5 km², with the outer Himalayas nearby. The main building has Greco-Roman and Colonial styles of architecture. It has laboratories, a library, herbarium, arboreta, printing press and experimental field areas for conducting forestry research. Its museums, in addition to being a source of scientific information, are an attraction for tourists.
