State Bank of India invites application for 1000 Probationary Officers (PO) posts

Positions:

1) Probationary Officers (PO)

Pay Scale: Rs.27800 P.M. (approx.)

Total Number of posts : 1000

Age Limit: Candidates age must be between 21-30 years as on 1st May 2011

Educational Qualification: Candidates maut have Graduate degree in any discipline as on 1st MAY 2011 

Selection process: The selection process consists of written exam followed by interview.

Application fees: Rs.500 for general and OBC candidates and Rs.50/- for SC/ST candidates which have to be paid at any branch of State bank of India before June 6, 2011.

Online registration starts on 18.05.2011 and closes on 09.06.2011

ABOUT STATE BANK OF INDIA

The State bank of India, also known as SBI is one of the leading public sector banks in India. The origin of SBI began during the first decade of 19th century with the establishment of modern banking system with the Bank of Bombay (established on 15 April 1840) and the Bank of Madras (established on 1 July 1843) followed by the Bank of Bengal that merged with Imperial Bank of India, on 27 January 1921. 

However, the government of India nationalized the Imperial Bank along with the Reserve Bank of India in the year 1955 to make it presence in the name of SBI. Eventually, the State Bank of India (SBI) established on 1 July 1955.

The state bank of India was the first to launch the Five Year Plan of independent India, in 1951. 
This plan serves the need of the rural sector of the Indian economy; this gave rise to expand the commercial banks of the country that include Imperial bank of India – providing services to the urban sector. 

In addition, the bank offers services to the growing needs for the development of the country as well as to the rural sector. The bank has an association with the state-partnered and state-sponsored bank that was recommend by the All India Rural Credit Survey Committee in India

The State Bank of India has expanded its operation and carried out by the 480 offices that include branches, sub –offices and the local head offices; rooted with Imperial Bank. The bank has expanded its operations to fulfill the growing demand of the customer by offering the various financial needs of the economic development. 

The state bank of India has positioned in Mumbai that cater to various functional activity and to speed up the services in and out of the Mumbai, apart from corporate centers. The bank currently has an as 14 local head offices and 57 Zonal Offices, located at major cities throughout India. It is recorded that SBI has about 10000 branches, well networked to cater to its customers throughout India.
