Combined Defence Services Examination (II), 

A Combined Defence Services Examination will be conducted by the Union Public Service Commission on 18th September, 2011 for admission to the undermentioned courses.

Name of the Course and Approximate No. of Vacancies.

1. Indian Military Academy, 250 Dehradun 133rd Course commencing in July, 2012 [including 32 vacancies reserved for NCC ‘C’ Certificate (Army Wing) holders].

2. Indian Naval Academy, 40 Ezhimala-Course Commencing in July, 2012 Executive (General Service) {including 06 vacancies reserved for NCC 'C' Certificate holders (Naval Wing)}.

3. Air Force Academy, Hyderabad 32 (Pre-Flying) Training Course commencing in July, 2012 i.e. No.192nd F(P) Course.

4. Officers Training Academy, 175 Chennai, 96th SSC Course (for Men) commencing in October, 2012.

5. Officers Training Academy, 25 Chennai 10th SSC Women (Non-Technical) Course commencing in October, 2012

INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIATES FOR FILLING ONLINE APPLICATIONS

Candidates are required to apply Online by using the website http://www.upsconline.nic.in

Detailed instructions for filling up Online applications are available on the above mentioned website.

Candidates will be required to complete the On-line Application Form containing two stages viz. Part-I and Part-II as per the instructions available in the above mentioned site through drop down menu.

The candidates applying Online are required to pay a reduced fee of Rs. 100/- (Rupees one hundred Only) [excepting Female/SC/ST candidates who are exempted from payment of fee] either by remitting the money in any branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI or by using any Visa/Master Credit/ Debit Card.

Before start filling up Online Application, a candidate must have his/her photograph and signature duly scanned in the .jpg format in such a manner that each file size should not exceed 40 KB each.

The Online applications (Part I and II) can be filled from 7th May, 2011 to 6th June, 2011 till 11.59 p.m., after which link will be disabled.

Candidates are strongly advised to apply online well in time without waiting for the last date for submission of online application.

The "Combined Defense Services" Examination or the CDS Exam is conducted twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment into the Indian Military Academy, Officers Training Academy, Naval Academy and Air Force Academy. The Notification for the examination is usually released in the months of August and March and the examination is conducted in February and August respectively. Only unmarried graduates are eligible to write the exam. Successful Candidates are admitted into the respective Academies after an interview conducted by SSB (service selection board).
