MASTER OF EDUCATION M. Ed. (PART TIME) PROGRAMME
Master of Education M. Ed. (Part time) course consisting of two Semesters is an in-service professional program open to (in-service) teachers and educational functionaries. The admission will be made on the basis of merit. The merit list will be prepared on the lines of Academic Index prescribed for research students of Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi.
DURATION OF WORKING DAYS :
The M. Ed. (Part-time) two semesters will be of two years duration, each year being of 90 working days. The classes will be conducted during summer vacation and holidays.
CLIENTELE :
Teachers, educational administrators and other functionaries connected with office administration, research, curriculum material development, policy making, teacher education, etc., with at least two years of service experience along with the following educational qualifications are eligible for admission:
ELIGIBILITY :
1. Post Graduate / Under Graduate degree under 10+2+3 pattern.
2. B. Ed. / B. Ed. (Special) securing a minimum of 50% marks in theory.
3. Two years service experience as on 28.02.2011(Certificate to be attached).
NUMBER OF SEATS :
25 (Reservation as per University Rules)
FEES :
The Candidate will have to pay Rs. 30,000/- plus usual fees applicable for M. Ed
HOW TO APPLY :
Applications will be invited through advertisement in leading newspapers the format of the application form can be downloaded from BHU website www.bhu.ac.in. The last date for submitting application form in complete is 28.02.2011. The application should be accompanied with Bank Draft of Rs. 600/- in favour of Registrar, Banaras Hindu University, payable at State Bank of India BHU (Code – 0211) Branch. Application should be submitted in the office of Dean, Faculty of Education.

The Founding of BHU
The main force behind this University was Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya. Born in an educated orthodox Hindu family at Prayag (Allahabad) in 1861, Madan Mohan Malaviya name to be recognized as an outstanding and noble son of India.
His multifaceted personality made him, at the same time, a great patriot, an educationist with a vision, a social reformer, an ardent journalist, reluctant but effective lawyer, a successful parliamentarian and an outstanding statesman. Among Malaviyaji's many achievements, the most monumental was the establishment of the Banaras Hindu University or Kashi Hindu Vishvidyalaya. In the course of his lifetime Banaras Hindu University came to be known as a Capital of Knowledge acknowledged across India and the World.
