Combined Research Entrance Test - CRET 2011

The University of Allahabad shall conduct the COMBINED RESEARCH ENTRANCE TEST-2011 (CRET- 2011) at Allahabad for admission to the Doctor of Philosophy (D. Phil.) Programme of the University for the session 2011-12 in the subjects specified in SECTION 2 of this Bulletin.

Allahabad UniversityAllahabad University is a premier Central University located in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. Its origins lie in the Muir Central College, named after Lt. Governor of North-Western Provinces, Sir William Muir in 1876, who suggested the idea of a Central University at Allahabad, which later evolved to the present University, and at one point it was even called, the "Oxford of the East", and on June 24, 2005 its Central University status was restored through the 'University Allahabad Act, 2005', of the Parliament of India.

The University has had the privilege of having on its rolls a host of distinguished politicians and statesmen including, one President and two Vice-Presidents of the country, two former Prime Ministers, several Union and State ministers, at least four Chief Justices of the Supreme Court, besides a large number of senior bureaucrats. The list of eminent educationists, scientists, historians, littérateurs, economists, and philosophers produced by the University is much too long a list to be reproduced but speaks highly of the University's standards in education.
