The Institute invites applications for admission to its Masters (MTech, MDes) and Doctoral (PhD) programmes for the session commencing from Aug. 2011 as per the following details:
Eligibility for Admission
MTech (Regular and Sponsored):
Computer Science & Engineering (CSE): B Tech/ BE in any engineering discipline OR M Sc in Mathematics, Statistics or a similar discipline OR MCA with (a) minimum marks/CPI in Qualifying Degree and (b) valid GATE score in Computer Science and Engineering/ Information Technology/ Mathematics/ Engineering Sciences (compulsorily with Sections Computational Science and Electrical Science) for regular students.
Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE): B Tech/ BE in Electronics/ Electronics and Communication Engineering/ Electrical Engineering/ Electrical and Electronics Engineering/ Instrumentation Engineering or a similar discipline OR M Sc in Electronics/ Electronics Science/ Physics/ Mathematics or a similar discipline with (a) minimum marks/CPI in Qualifying Degree and (b) valid GATE score in Electronics and Communication Engineering/Electrical Engineering/Instrumentation Engineering/Physics for regular students.
Mechanical Engineering (ME): B Tech/ BE in Mechanical Engineering/ Aeronautical Engineering/ Automobile Engineering/ Production Engineering/ Industrial Engineering/ Production and Industrial Engineering/ Metallurgical Engineering/ Manufacturing Science and Engineering/ Energy Engineering or a similar discipline with (a) minimum marks/CPI in Qualifying Degree and (b) valid GATE score in Mechanical Engineering/Production and Industrial Engineering/Metallurgical Engineering/Engineering Sciences (compulsorily with any two of the sections Fluid Mechanics, Materials Science, Solid Mechanics or Thermodynamics) for regular students.
Mechatronics: Candidates with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering/ Electrical and Electronics Engineering/ Electronics and Communication Engineering/ Automobile Engineering, Production Engineering/ Computer Science and Engineering are eligible for admission to this M.Tech. programme (a) minimum marks/CPI in Qualifying Degree and (b) valid GATE score in Mechanical Engineering/ Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Production Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering for regular students.
MDes (Regular and sponsored):
B.Tech/B.E./B.Arch./B.Des./BFA/M.Sc./M.A./MCA with (a) minimum marks/CPI in Qualifying Degree and (b) valid CEED score for regular students.
Minimum marks/CPI in Qualifying Degree for M.Tech./M.Des.: 55% marks / 5.5 CPI (on a 10-point scale) as long as it is at least seven percent higher than the minimum pass marks /CPI for General Category applicants and minimum passing marks for SC/ST/OBC applicants.
PhD (Regular, Sponsored and External):
Computer Science & Engineering (CSE): M Tech/ ME in Computer Science & Engineering or Information Technology or a similar discipline with minimum marks/ CPI in Qualifying Degree.
Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE): M Tech/ ME in Electronics/ Electronics & Communication Engineering/ Electrical Engineering or a similar discipline with minimum marks/ CPI in Qualifying Degree.
Mechanical Engineering (ME): M Tech / ME in Mechanical Engineering / Production Engineering / Industrial Engineering / Production and Industrial Engineering or a similar discipline with minimum marks / CPI in Qualifying Degree.
Design(DS): M Des with minimum marks/ CPI in Qualifying Degree
Minimum % of marks in Qualifying Degree for Ph.D.: 55% marks or CPI of 5.5 (on a 10-point scale) for General Category applicants and minimum passing marks for SC/ST/OBC applicants
General information:
(i) Reserved seats will be filled as per Govt. of India rules, (ii) Institute Assistantship is provided to M.Tech., M.Des. and Ph.D. students as per Govt. of India rules.

Filled up Application Forms along with a Demand Draft of Rs. 200/- for Gen and OBC & Rs.100/- for SC/ST category candidates, in favor of The Registrar, PDPM IIITDM Jabalpur, issued by any nationalized bank, payable at Jabalpur must be received latest by May 02, 2011 through Speed/ Registered Post only. The envelop containing filled application form should superscribed with “Application for admission to (Programme name) and (discipline)”. The Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing, Jabalpur, abbreviated IIITDM Jabalpur, is an IIIT and a Deemed University in Jabalpur that focuses on Design and Manufacturing.
Undergraduate Students are admitted to these courses on the basis of the All India Rank in the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE). For admissions to PG level courses, the GATE (for M.Tech. programs)/CEED (Common Entrance Examination for Design) scores of candidates are considered along with the CPI (or Equivalent Grading System, e.g. CGPA) maintained throughout the Graduate course undertaken by the student.
The Institute was alloted a campus space of 260 acres (1.1 km2) in 2006 following the appointment of Dr. Sanjeev Bhargava as director. Close to the Domestic Airport and Dumna Nature Reserve Construction of the Core lab Complex and Hostels started thereafter and was completed in June 2009, following the Institute being granted Deemed University status that month. Also, construction of the Three Seater Hostels started in June, 2009. All students are provided accommodation inside the campus premises.
