NATIONAL DEFENCE ACADEMY & NAVAL ACADEMY EXAMINATION (II), 2011

1) CANDIDATES TO ENSURE THEIR ELIGIBILITY FOR THE EXAMINATION:

The candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfil all eligibility conditions for admission to the Examination. Their admission at all the stages of the examination will be purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions.

Mere issue of Admission Certificate to the candidate will not imply that his candidature has been finally cleared by the Commission. Commission take up verification of eligibility conditions with reference to original documents only after the candidate has qualified for Interview/Personality Test.

2) HOW TO APPLY
(a) Candidates [except certain categories mentioned in Para 5(c)] may apply online by using the website http://www.upsconline.nic.in Detailed instructions for filling up online applications are available on the above mentioned website.

(b) Candidates may also apply Offline in the Common Application Form devised by the Commission for its examinations, which can be purchased from the designated Head Post Offices/ Post Offices (specified in Appendix-III of the Notice) throughout the country against cash payment of Rs. 30/- (Rupees thirty only). Each such Form can be used only once and only for one examination.
In case of any difficulty in obtaining Applications Forms from the designated HPOs/POs, the candidates should immediately contact the concerned Post Master or UPSC’s “Forms Supply Monitoring Cell” over Telephone No. 011-23389366/Fax No. 011-23387310.

(c) Candidates are advised to read carefully the Instructions for filling up the Online Application Form given in Appendix-II (A) and Instructions for Offline Applications given in Appendix-II (B) of this Notice.

LAST DATE OF RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS :

(a) Online
The Online Applications can be filled upto 9th May, 2011 till 11.59 PM after which the link will be disabled.

(b) Offline
All Offline Applications must reach the “Controller of Examinations, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi-110069” either by hand or by post/Speed Post or by Courier, on or before the 9th May, 2011.

Candidates should note that applications will be received by hand, only one at a time, at the designated counter(s) and not in bulk, till 5 PM only. However, in respect of candidates posting their application from abroad or certain remote areas specified in Para 6 of this Notice the last date for receipt of applications by Post/Speed Post only (not by Hand or by Courier) is 16th May, 2011.

PENALTY FOR WRONG ANSWERS :
Candidates should note that there will be penalty (Negative Marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the Objective Type Question Papers.

FACILITATION COUNTER FOR GUIDANCE OF CANDIDATES :
In case of any guidance/information/clarification regarding their applications, candidature etc. candidates can contact UPSC’s Facilitation Counter near Gate ‘C’ of its campus in person or over Telephone No.011-23385271/011-23381125/ 011-23098543 on working days between 10.00 hrs. and 17.00 hrs.

MOBILE PHONES BANNED:
(a) Mobiles phones, pagers or any other communication devices are not allowed inside the premises where the examination is being conducted. Any infringement of these instructions shall entail disciplinary action including ban from future examinations.

(b) Candidates are advised in their own interest not to bring any of the banned items including mobile phones/pagers to the venue of the examination, as arrangements for safekeeping cannot be assured.

Candidates are advised not to bring any valuable/costly items to the Examination Halls, as safe keeping of the same cannot be assured. Commission will not be responsible for any loss in this regard.

About National Defense Academy (NDA) Exam
National Defense Academy (NDA) Exam is a prestigious common entrance exam through which the eligible candidates are recruited to the Army, Navy and Air Force Wings of the National Defense Academy. The exam is held twice a year around April and September. The NDA exam will be conducted by the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission). The applicant should be an unmarried male. The training will be given for three years. There is a facility for the candidate to choose the subject of his choice. But the final decision will also depend on the place he secures in the merit list. However the applicant will be given a choice between two academies – National Defense Academy and Naval Academy for its Executive Branch. Under NDA being the first preference, the candidate has to further choose between Army, Navy, Air Force and also his preference for Naval Academy. If Naval Academy becomes his first choice, the candidate must follow it up with his level of preference for the three wings of NDA.
The training at NDA has tremendous benefits to its credit. Besides offering a vision for a competitive growth atmosphere, the training awards Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Science or Computer Science at the end of the training period. On the technical front the degree will be awarded in the stream of Engineering too. If the selection happens for Defence Services Staff College course, the degree given will be Master of Science degree in Defence and Strategic Studies. The exam also offers other exciting opportunities such as engineering, medicine, administration to strategy and armament technology to management. There is a brighter chance of joining the Research and Development area too. For the candidates desirous of joining the Air Force Academy the choice must be shown as AFA and will have to undergo Pilot Aptitude Battery Test. Taking NDA exam and getting through the same will open a whole world of new opportunities infront of the successful candidates to help them get a dream career that comes with both name and fame.
